So to continue where I left off yesterday...

This was the view from the Frescata hill. You could see a lot more in real life, basically all of Rome in the distance. What I love about the houses and apartment buildings is that they all have rooftop gardens and balcony gardens. Its so pretty and colorful.

These are sunglasses that I "bartered" in Italian for from a street vendor after I left mine in the restaraunt. My friends and I got him to lower the price from 15 to 10 Euro...we think...unless we just didnt understand him the first time.

A lake near Frascati with a little beach. (no one was there because it was a little chilly) There was also a kind of boardwalk with vendors and a little amusement park. It was cute. This lake is also the one where the Pope has a summer home. We saw the gates to it!

My first gelato! Strawberry Kiwi. It was delicious! Apparently Italians dont believe in lines...you kinda had to push your way to the counter and yell over everyone else. Kinda hard when you dont know the Italian names of the flavors. I just read the first two I saw and it worked! lol (Mom: that means laughing out loud)

The Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi). I cannot describe how amazed I was at seeing this. Movies and pictures do not do it justice at all. I think that goes for just about everything in Rome. The fountain is GIGANTIC! Its so serene and peaceful, even with hundreds of people there, which you can see in the picture I took of the crowd. I could have stayed there all night.

I threw in one coin, which means I'll come back to Rome. Two coins means you'll find your true love in Rome and three means you'll get married in Rome.

There were soo many people. Including tons of men walking around trying to sell roses. They dont like to take no for and answer...

The Fountain of the Rotten Boat (Fontana della Barcaccia). Its really neat. There were a lot of roses in it. We're not sure if that has significanc or if someone just got made at the people selling roses....
This is in the Piazza di Spagna, right in front of the Spanish Steps.

The spanish steps arent much to look at in themselves, its just a big staircase. But its a really popular hangout for young people. They're just covered in Italians and tourists who hang out together, bring guitars and sing all night until about 2 or 3 AM. It was funny because they were singing Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beatles, Greenday- all American bands.

Me and Hannah being "hip young Romans" on the Stairs. lol

The Church at the top of the stairs. The Trinita dei Monti. Absolutely beautiful. It was too late to go inside, but there was a bride and groom getting wedding pictures taken outside. Strange for that time of night, but I bet they were really nice pictures!

Classes started today. My Italian class should be a lot of fun. My philosophy of religion class is really neat too. Its going to be a lot of work though. After class we kinda cut down our sightseeing plans so we can read...

We're going to the Vatican today in a few minutes. I can't wait!!

Darcy!
ahhhh I miss Rome!
I hope you're having a great time at St. Peter's today- make sure you go up to the cuppola sometime. Its only 3 or 4 euro, and its AMAZING. I would have paid 10 or 15 euro for it. lol.
And someplace else good to go in the evening: Piazza Navona. Its really neat, there are street vendors all over selling water color paintings, and at one end of it we found this place with the best cioccolato gelato. yummmmmmmmm.
Now I found your blog I'll have to keep coming back for updates...
Ciao!
